I can understand the dealer's position very well. If they turn the rotors, which in today's climate has bwecome a less acceptable procedure, and the rotors then develop any kind of trouble whatsoever, you will probably want them to honor the trouble under warranty, and say that THEY did the work, and sanctioned it. They will not be able to address the issue with Saab, mainly because you are usning a non factory supplied part( the pads), and that the wear of the rotors is out of their direct control. Most of us agree that the stock pads are both dustmakers, and tend to wear the rotors fast, but that is the way the product comes off the line, and what most have decided to live with . I replaced my pads at 9000 miles with EBC pads,( 2002 Aero) and my rotors already had a slight lip on the outer edge, but not anything that needed turning. Had that been the case, I would have put on new rotors. Taking metal off of the already thin rotors does decrease the thermal mass, and makes rotor warping more likely, especially if you have a heavy braking foot.
