Hi,
There was some discussion about this about two years ago, and the
poster who argued otherwise was summarily discredited :-)
It is better to have narrower tires mounted on 16" rims so that the
tires cut into snow to get added traction that it needs. Also, you'll
be less likely to bend 16" rims when you hit a pot-hole which is buried
by snow.
So, we advise you to not go for 17" rims with wider snow tires
and not to try to mount 17" snows on your nice Aero rims.
