The new Malibu is basically an "americanized" Vectra. The Malibu Maxx is Opel Signum, which is a 5-door Vectra with a much longer wheelbase. Should be a really great car for cross-country drives with 4 people in the car. Very impressive.
Bob Lutz promises that the Malibu and the Maxx will not deviate too much from their European versions. I have a lot of trouble believing that. Usually "americanizing" involves cheapening of the interior, poor seats (wide and flat), soft chassis, huge V-6 and a stupid automatic transmission.
