I had to do some work on my washer system recently, as it had stopped squirting. Turns out that most of the little check valves in the plumbing (I think there are about 5 or 6) had clogged up. In the process of investigating this failure, I checked the resevoir out. There are two pump motors towards the bottom of the resevoir, one feeds the windshield, the other feeds the headlight wiper system. If one has clogged, it can force fluid to leak. Remove the left side splash shield (not in the wheel well, but the one that runs parallel to the ground and mounts on the sub-frame).

It is a bit challenging to work on, particularily the lines which go out to the headlights. I took out all the check valves, rather than buy new ones. I think they clogged from lack of use over the summer months, I live in Denver and did not use the washers for months.

Could be that the resevoir itself is cracked, but it's pretty sturdy. Check also where the pump motors mount, they just slide on and off and seal by contact. Have a bucket handy to catch any fluid in the resevoir.
