Rough Idle

Maybe its because I have had 6 cylinders in most of the family's cars but....
Anyone else get a rough idle when in drive? We have on '02 Linear automatic. It is not terrible, but it is noticeable, and detracts a bit from the rest of the car. Under way, its smooth as butter. My TDI Beetle idles smoother, and so does (sometimes) my 18 year old Volvo V-6.
