Challenge to smart people

On just about every 9-5 I've ever driven, there is a slight bit of movement in the drivers seat. When you stop aggressively, the seat slides forward a bit. Then when you punch it forward, the seat slides back. We're probably talking about 1/8" in either direction.
Anyone have any ideas on a fix? I don't think the seat is actually moving on the rails. The movement appears to be in the cushion/base of the seat--not the frame. The 3-series had a similar problem and some fixes were identified--one involved wedging a nickel somewhere into the seat frame.
Please help--this is driving me NUTS. My 10k mile check up is coming up soon and I'm hoping that if I can bring some board suggestions to the dealer, they may be able to fix the problem (so far, they've had no success).
Thanks!
Sieglo
