Hi,
There is no packaging concern with a four-cylinder engine. So, v4 is
a bad idea because it means convoluted routing of timing belt for no
reason.
V6 is not the troublesome Opel V6. It is made by Vauxhall. V6 in
9-5 has proven to be reliable.
The deciding factors for most of us who are not swayed by emotional
factors such as not wanting to pay $30,000 for an automobile with a four
cylinder engine or being very loyal to the "Saab" I4 engine, make this
decision based on what we want in a 9-5.
V6 is only offered with automatic transmission and more loosely sprung
suspension and therefore is aimed more for people who want luxury in
their 9-5.
2.3 I4 can be had with either manual or automatic transmissions. In
the Aero, 2.3 HOT engine produces 250HP. Aero has a suspension that can
easily handle this amount of power. So, if you want maximum performance,
you cannot go wrong with 2.3 HOT.
2.3 LPT will often prove to be the best value.
thanks
Jae
