Lock Your Door?

This is a question brought up in thinking about the door locking options available at the dealer via Tech II modifications.
What is the benefit of locking the doors while driving? Is there some increase in opening resistance strength by using the locking mechanism? Is it less likely that I will be ejected during a collision?
It seems unlikely to me Saab (or GM) would design the door latch to be less than wonderful when not in the "locked" position. I am not even a little concerned about bad people leaping into my car, but more concerned that rescuers have easy access to me post collision.
So, why do you lock your doors?
