I'd try to take it out and clean it, it looks reasonably accesible. Like a lot of other parts, Saab likely buys the O2 sensor from someone (only a few people make these things) and then marks it up for resale.
Last time I cleaned one was the old style three wire sensor, have no experience with the newer 4 wire type, but I would not be surprised if it much the same. My cleaning procedure:
Spray with carb cleaner. Wait a few minutes, light propane torch and burn the beejeezus out of the tip until it glows orange, repeat if necessary.
You could also test the 3 wire type by connecting to ohmmeter, heating and doing a resistance or current test, can't remember which. But if yours is "slow to respond", it may just need to be cleansed .
I think you take a variety of paths to reduce/limit your expense here.
