9-5's as a whole are getting tough to find. Nationwide, dealer inventories are way down, yet demand for the 9-5 is not. Dealer Trading for 9-5's is becoming increasingly more difficult every day. His dead-dead dealer cost is around $28,800.ºº. He is not making money, he is 'brooming' a unit.
Believe me, I'm looking for a bargain as much as the next guy, and for $25k no one else would have a chance to buy the car, because it would already be sitting in my garage.
We have to think about the rest of the market. We're not the only people out there buying Saabs, and from a retail standpoint the car might be gone tomorrow. Wouldn't you agree that a Premium Package Linear offers a huge amount of vehicle for the money? Try to buy a comparably equipped Bimmer for anywhere near this price. It won't happen. Is it a good buy in the respect of, are you getting a great car for the money? If you're going to buy and drive the car a lot, then you'll get your money out of it. In the meantime, you've got a great, safe, reliable, and fun to drive automobile that isn't common place, has a lot of class, screams quality, includes No-Charge Maintenance, Roadside Assistance, etc. etc. Do I actually need to remind everyone that there is a reason that we love our cars? If you don't see the value in our cars, someone else certainly will. That car is in a wonderful position in the market in regards to it's surrounding competitors. A smart shopper that knows nothing about Saab will realize, just, how good of a car this is for the price, and believe me, it happens everyday. With the unbalance in my inventory and the degree of difficulty in obtaining Linears rising, all of a sudden '02 9-5's are an easy sell.
BTW, the '03 Linears no longer have rear heated seats, and if you have no use for steering wheel paddle shifting, the transmissions are identical, as well as 99% of the rest of the car. Buying an '02 is not a bad thing, & in fact, has it's advantages.
Cheers,
Brian.
