I thought factory-fill ATF is Texamatic, which is 100% synthetic and has very similar physical properties to Mobile 1.
So I did use Mobile 1 ATF on my 99 9-3 (same AT as your 99 9-5) and had very successful results. The car had only 12,000 miles at the fluid change, and Mobile 1 significantly reduced knock (i.e. when shifting into Reverse), especially at cold temp. I did unscrew hose connection to drain more than I could from the drain plug.
My $0.02 worth.
