I use it constantly on my 2002 Aero. The biggest single change on sport mode is the more sensitive throttle map for the drive by wire system. The difference in the upshift points is only apparent if you have the thing floored, and quite frankly, with this kind of power, there is both no need to do that, and it will get you in big trouble in most areas. THe more sensitive throttle however,comes into play all the time, and like you said, it makes the boost come in under conditions where you otherwise might not see it. If it were not for the EPA compliance testing and fuel economy specs, my guess is that the Aero could have jsut been built as a "sport mode only" machine, and I wish it could have been done. One less button to mess with.
