$25 to re-program for no daytime running lights Posted by Scotty [Email] (#7352) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Scotty) on Fri, 31 Jan 2003 10:59:01 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Couple days ago, I posted about the 1999 9-5 I bought. I mentioned that I asked the dealer to remove DRLs and they said it is $25 to reprogram the computer for the headlight switch to work normally.
Apparently this seemed absurd to some folks, and I was told all I needed to do was remove a fuse. I didn't want to do that because in my 1997 900set, I removed the fuse and it sure, it does disable the DRL, but when you turn the switch to parking lights, the headlights still come on.
Any way, I got it back and the dealer did indeed make the headlights work "normally" i.e., when off, all lights off, in park position, only parking lights are on, on headlight, low and high beams work.
I've seen other posts mention "euro" mode for headlights, but that's described as fog lights work in parking light mode AND with high beams on. On mine fogs work when only parking lights are on, but they do go off if you turn on high beams....
Anyway, just an fyi for those interested.
