Very true. Make a hard acceleration and while accelerating just depress
the brake pedal enough to activate the brake light switch. Notice how
the engine loses much of its power. The T7 system know when you are
braking and refuses to fight with the brakes. It has a direct connection
to one of the brake pedal switches (the one used for the cruise control)
and also receives a message over the CAN bus from the TWICE computer when
the brake light is on.
Both of these brake indications must have been activated at least once
after starting before the cruise control can be used.
