I leave it on 99% of the time. Sometimes I also use 'W' mode (I've got an '00 aero w/ automatic). The 'W' mode seems to make the system fight with the engine a lot less, and still plenty of torque starting out in 3rd gear.

Last night, going up a small but steep hill close to my house, there was 3-4 inches of snow on the road (12-18 elsewhere!), and coming down the road was a man walking in the middle. So, I slowed, went into the oncoming lane to get around him, and back, at which point I was down to 2 MPH. I noticed quickly that I could not get going again, the TCS system along w/ 3rd gear up the hill did not let the wheels spin much at all, so the car sat. That is until I clicked the TCS button to disable it, then woosh, off I went with wheel spin to get up the hill. Sometimes wheel spin is the only way to get up hills.

If you've read this far, good for you! I was wondering if having the TCS on helps corner somewhat better in snow then I could ever do without it, due to the active breaking on the slipping wheel. As an experiment this morning, I took a right turn onto a snowy back road and while entering and in the turn, applied the gas, with TCS on, I could feel the car pull into the turn with very good traction, seems that the independent wheel breaking helped guide the nose into and around the turn. TCS light was on the entire time. So I went back and tried again, this time without TCS on. I could not come close to the speed I had around the turn the 1st time, and actually drifted into the oncoming lane through the turn (nobody around at all, trust me!). Had this been a rear wheel drive car, I think I could do better without TCS.
