models on this board as well. I know how Saabs do when properly maintained. Those that are not can be really bad. There have been cases of those described here as well. Knowing a cars history and a good mechanical inspection is about the only way one can make a proper decision on a used car. Certified cars from Saab with 100,000 mile warranty is another good choice. If I was buying a car today and 1999 was one choice with 112,000 miles and the other was a 2000 with 45,000 miles I would probably take the 2000 as long as I knew the history and it passed a SaabTech's inspection. My main point was that the 1999 Saab problems are minor and the only real problem was the ECU which Saab stepped up to and fixed.
