Put in what you've drained out. I took on old washer fluid bottle, and filled it with 3 quts of water and maked the outside with a sharpie marker. then I added 1/2 more quart and marked it again.
Then I emptied out the water from the bottle.
When I poured my used ATF fluid into this "marked" bottle, is was @ 3 quarts.
Your car may be slightly different, so use this system and you won't have to guess.
In the 2x more additional changes that I did, it STILL drained as 3 quarts !!
