I also bought the rubber floor mat as I frequently have either my dog, my (wet and muddy!) camping gear or both in the back. With the rubber mat- the sliding floor is not really practical to use as the mat covers the entire floor and its only the center section which slides out.
I typically fill the back with smaller items and the sliding floor is more suited to one or two large heavy items. If you're moving an air conditioner or several bags of top soil the sliding floor in combination with the cargo rails is indispensible. One thing that should be noted is when the floor is in the active position, you'll lose about 4-6" of useable height. Last year I had to move a TV. I extended the floor and was all ready to go- until I tried to load the TV and realized it wouldn't fit with the floor raised! I had to put the floor back and slide the TV in the old fashioned way.
Its handy as a seat, and its also handy if you have a couple of coolers or something you want to get into without crawling around in the back, or moving something out of the way.
It is quite expensive, mine was already installed when I bought the car and I worked it into the deal... I'm not sure if I would order it if I did it all again, but it is very handy in certain situations so you'll have to decide what you'll be carrying and how often in order to justify the price.
