I wanted a wagon to handle all my gear, and something that handled well...
Not too many choices. E-wagon in the new style won't be around for a while, not sure if the old E320 wagons handle very well. Audi is OK, RS6 looks good but its signifigantly more expensive than anything else you've listed. I'd be cautious with the Volvo- first model years are always buggy (not just volvo) and the V70R is pretty ambitious on top of that. There's quite a few important changes on the Aero since '00 including the suspension and an extra 20hp- I'll stick with something that works myself...
I don't think AWD is that important. I get around fine in the winter with the Saab- did you have snows for your current Aero? Why not re-use those?
I live in downtown toronto and I happen to have the space for my extra set of tires- but usually everyone has at least one friend out of the city who wouldn't mind keeping them in his garage or barn for you!
It can only be fun to test drive all of those great cars and pick one at the end!
Good luck,
Brad
