relative to AWD by reading journals and other literature over the years (Saab owner since 1963). I also am from NY (Rochester) and was able to navigate the worst of winters in the 50's in a 56 Chevy, 58 Buick and the like (front engine, rear drive, belted bias regular tires - all season radials not invented then). I last lived in CT where my NG900s and 9-5SE walked away from SUVs with all wheels flaying throwing snow and slush. I was using the "Winter" feature of the Saab auto which starts out in 3rd gear. AWD is a feature that sales folks need to sell cars just like V-6s. I have heard various folks on the board rave about the Arc when comparing it to the Aero. It is quite nice but is no sportscar. Hope you are happy with whatever you decide on.
