Bill, This being my fourth SAAB (I have had other cars, trucks and vans) I can attest to the quality and handling improvements SAAB has built in over the years. I still have my 1992 9000S, 138K and counting, to go along with my 2002 Aero, 12K and counting even faster.
I love the car but have issues in that I find it incredibly hard to keep it near the speed limit. The car handles so quietly and smoothly the sense of speed doesn't kick in until speeding (Does that make sense?)
Take one out for an extended test drive: Arrange with your dealer to take it for a Saturday. Go interstate to get a sense of highway driving and seat comfort. Go back roads to get a sense of handling and responsiveness.
Try to develop torque steer, you have the 900 to use as your standard to compare to.
I caution you on seeking opinions on this forum for I learned first hand that doing so gets you started on stuff you never have done in the past. This forum helped steer me to the Aero, wheel and tire selection, brake pad selection, confirmation on oil type and change frequency, and waxing my wheels (My wife has the men in white jackets and nets waiting outside as she thinks I have truly lost it.), as well as other stuff.
Best of luck.
