Hey Jase,
Dean reported _better_ fuel economy when he switched from xW-30 oil
to Delvac 1 5W-40 oil.
So, here's my thought. Perhaps the added resistance due to heavier
weight is offset by the fact that the higher viscosity oil does not get
pushed out of high pressure regions as easily.
So, during hard acceleration when you're generating a _lot_ of torque,
a 30 weight oil may get pushed completely out of the bearings therby
_increasing_ friction in the bearings with metal touching metal. But,
a 40 weight oil will manage to stay in the bearings, protect and
lubricate.
Just a theory to try to explain the incongruity.
