Rhonda I'm surprised to hear the '01 9-5 doesn't have latch connections; my wife's '00 9-3SE does.
On my '02 9-5 the latch brackets are there, you may have to curl your fingers up to feel them.
I use a tether that came with the car to connect to the Britax (Roundabout) tether. It's a short (~1 foot) piece with a snap hook attached to one end and a loop on the other. I've heard you can get them free from a dealership.
There's a bar under the front seat that you can see if you pull back a flap at the rear, bottom. Pass the loop end of the Saab tether around it and then push the snaphook thru it. Then use the snap hook to connect to the Britax tether.
