Driver's Mirror Black Plastic Thingy Broken...

Any ideas on how to replace the black/grey plastic liner behind the outside rearview mirror? An idiot clipped it going by me the other day...that is all that broke, but his insurance company wrote me a check for the entire mirror assembly. Is there a way to get that piece off and replaced without replacing the entire mirror?
Thanks,
Brian
