Brian,

Use the joystick to tilt the mirror downwards and inwards until it will go no further. Look down the gap between the mirror glass and the casing where the gap is greatest and you should see, with the aid of a torch, one of the 4 clips that holds the glass to the motorised assembly. They are at 45 degrees to the vertical. Carefully prise the glass away at this point with a flat bladed screwdriver and detach the two wires to the heating element. The glass now comes away. Now you can see how the whole assembly works. You will need some small Torx wrenches to remove the motor assembly (3 screws) and a different size to remove the grey casing from the metal backing (4 screws). The coloured casing to the forward of the mirror has clips which later had screws inserted to splay the legs and make it more secure. You can remove this also to make it easier but I am not sure if removal is strictly necessary for you as I needed to remove it anyway for repair. All is accessible from the glass side of the mirror assembly.

Reassembly is the reverse..........
