Help with removing seized front rotors

I was very excited this week because I ordered new brake pads and rotors all around. I had no hang-ups with the rear other than a tight squeeze (spring in the way) with my 7mm hex socket. A hex key would have been better.
Anyways, proud of my success, I moved onto the front brakes this evening (shh, wife's spleeping) but could slide the old rotor off. And yes, I did remove the 5mm hex retaining bolt and caliper. I assume it is seized from rust. I tried shaking it violently, kicking it, and hammering it with my rubber mallet (unfortunetly, it's very light), but no luck.
Would backing-off a little torque on my wheel lugs followed by some spirited driving help loosen it up? Any suggestions?
