Yeah, I am not impressed with the GSM service. I am glad that I purchased a GSM/TDMA phone since there are a number of areas along the Oregon coast where there is no GSM service. Seems like the most importatn places to have a phone are the least likely to have any service.
Yes, I could easily turn down the stereo, but doesn't the mute function do more than that? Since the volume controls also control the phone volume, I'm guessing that the phone audio goes through the stereo. In addition to muting the stereo, I suspect the mute function also switches the source to the amp from the steres to the phone.
I may be able to switch to a TDMA phone and plan, but would have to change my number and convince ATT to let me out of my contract, which I think I could get them to do.
My ohter option is to get a GSM only phone. The Siemens C45 has a hands free kit that includes the mute function. I can get the phone for free with the current rebates, but lose the TDMA capabilities.
Still hoping fo an answer from the board.
