I think Saab has switched to Pirellis for '03, so please consider that too...but, I use the stock Primacy's in the summer (including rainy days) and I've been very happy with them. There is no more of a danger than is normally present during rain. Slow down in the rain and the snow... those are comprimised conditions with any car, regardless of the tires and wheels.
I even use the 17" wheels in the winter with hi-performance snow tires (Pirelli Snow sport 240's) and I was very happy with the results. Perhaps there's greater risk of wheel damage due to potholes, but driving responsibly greatly limits the risk.
Don't worry, get the Aero!
