Turanza's are quiet

I just (like today) put on a set of the Turanza 215/55 LS-H on my 2000 95 lpt. My immediate impression is that they are very quiet, and from what I can tell so far, handle better than my OE Michelins. They do seem to telegraph a tad more "impulse" from cracks and seams in the road then the Michelin's did, but the reduction in road noise is dramatic.
I went back and forth between the RE950's and Turanza and opted for quiet over the purportedly slightly better performance of the RE950's. I also researched the Conti Extreme Contact. From what I gathered from reviews and speaking with dealers, the Conti tires have a slightly softer ride but do not corner quite as well or have the wet performance of either of the Bridgestone tires. The noise factor is hard to judge but the guy at TireRack and other people I spoke with that handled both tires claimed the Turanza was the quieter of the two.
My only issue with the Turanza was the lack of a V rated tire in the 215/55 16 size. You have to make your own peace with this. I think that for most of us in the USA, tire ratings above H are mostly a macho thing. I don't know about you, but I don't often get much above 100mph and when I do it is only for a minute or two at a time.
While the 130mph H rating might not cut it in Germany, it’s probably fine for the freeways where I live (California).
I’ll post again when I have some miles on these tires. Good luck!
