have made that piece stronger, or they could have made it REALLY easy to replace with just one little change to the original design.
One piece of that lockout goes down and under the shifter ball bearing. Because of that, the shifter ball have to come out of its aluminum housing to hook the lockout under the ball.
If that "hook" would have been made to the shape of two spring loaded lock fingers, just about anyone could pop a new lockout in there whenever it breaks.
But that's why I don't design cars (they would look like a Sherman tank)
