The 9-5 is such an enigma....

I have a love/hate relationship with my 1999 9-5 (2.3 5-speed 82K miles). I love the styling, the abundance of features, the utility of the design, and the drivability. I like being able to fold down the seats and get 8 2x4's home for a project. I love the gigantic trunk and the roomy cabin. However, having driven almost nothing but Japanese cars for the first 17 years of my driving life, there are certain aspects of this car that are totally unacceptable and drive me absolutely nuts. The paint is soft--it takes almost nothing to scratch it, so there are surface scratches around every door and the trunk. There have been lots of mechanical problems to deal with over the 18K miles I've driven the car. I wonder what's going to go wrong next and how much it's going to set me back. The SID problem is a huge annoyance for me, and it's the kind of design flaw that the Japanese simply would not be able to understand. No independent shops want to work on my car, and the local dealer's service department is designed entirely around ripping people off. In that regard this site has saved me several hundred bucks with DIY tips. Lastly, the depreciation has been dramatic, even though I'm the second owner. At least my car is paid for!
Anyone got a 99 9-5 with over a 100K miles on it? What is ahead for me?? :)
