Not so sure I feel the same way...I used to own a Honda Civic and and had a business lease Toyota Camry for a year. My Honda the stereo busted twice and the LCD on the clock went out at 20K miles - both were as you said annoying things to break. Mechanically the car was fine, but it was 10x simpler than either of my Saabs and drove like it. The Camry (and also Nissan and Acura) dented with even the slightest touch of another car door etc. Here in Texas it is usually the Japanese cars that are the first to be damaged in a light hail storm. The only Japanese cars I would consider at this point are few and far between. I hate mass produced cars.
I am on my second Saab and I haven't had an issue yet with either one. Lot of it is luck. You also have to remember that the Saab is a more complex car which means potentially more issues at a higher cost, it also means an awesome driving experience. If you want to drive straight down the middle get a mass produced car. The saab definitly has a spirit of its own. Now that I am on #2 it will be hard to drive another make of car...BMW is probably the only other make I would consider for a sports sedan.
Just my 2 cents. I hope your issues go away. There are many Saab drivers with 200K+ miles on their cars.
