Many 1999 engines in the 9-3's had head bolts that were not torqued to spec. It seems, from reading the posts of others, that the bolt closest to the battery often has zero torque, can be turned by fingers. In many cases if things were not to far gone, a retorque was all that was required. Sometimes not. I can't see that the same basic engine in the 9-5's would have a difference from the factory.

Early leakers were fixed under warranty.

I am surprised that Saab did not go after all of these! Now I am wondering about TSB's and the like and if the dealers are not doing there jobs.

So I suggest a retorque if Saab will not pay. The dealer wants it done out of your pocket as the rate they get for Saab payed work is much lower than from you. So you may need to get after Saab yourself, as the dealer may not be an enthusiatic advocate for your interests.

So the pump shaft seal is leaking, or hose joints, or gasket seam or the O-rings for the pump to block adapter. There is a lot of labor to R&R the pump so if its out on shop time, replace pump and adapter 0-rings. Search drs<underscore>install on the NG900 for pump R&R. I expect that much will apply.
