FM Transmitter will be better in quality than the tape method you are using. Reliability shouldn't be an issue...they are a very common technology these days.

There is no way that you are going to get a direct connect into the factory deck. An aftermarket deck or using a system that mimics a CD changer are really your only two options. The second option would entail using something other than the IPOD for your MP3's (not even sure if something like this is made for Saab...its available for Audi and a couple other makes).
