Have owned a 1999 9-5 since it was new. Actually picked it up in Sweden and drove in Germany for almost two-years. Now live in Arizona. Car has had serious reliability problems. First, at 10K, the clutch slave cylinder failed. Dealer fixed, but had to wait almost two-weeks for the part. Next, at 20K, the direct ignition failed. Dealer fixed, but had to wait a week. At 35K, fuel pressure sensor quit. At 40K, transmission synco had to be replaced. Wouldn't down shift into second gear. Most recent occurance (out of warranty, now have 61K), AC complete failure with $1,700 bill, Saab paid $1,400 of it. Other problems repair by the dealer include windshield washers, SID Display lost characters, power window rollers broke.
Love the car, but if I had to pay for all the maintenance out of pocket, could have bought two cars. May want to consider the reliability of the car before buying. Not sure if I'm keeping mine much longer.
