Here's a new one. I pulled my '02 9-5 out of the garage to get to the mower, and left the keys & fob on the passenger seat. Several hours later after mowing the lawn and having lunch, I was in the house when I heard the car alarm going off!?! I went out expenting to see one of our resident chipmunks taking off with the car. I tried pressing the buttons on the fob to disable the alarm and turning the ignition on but the alarm kept turning back on afer I had disabled it. It then struck me that the fob had been sitting in the sunlight in the passenger seat all that time and was noticably warm. I took the fob off the keychain and disabled the alarm by putting the key turning on the ignition. I then took the fob, inside the house out of range... Problem solved! The fob had gotten so hot in the sun that it must have closed all the switches and set the panic function off. Either that or it was crying out for a fresh coat of wax...
