As many have said, the aero suspension was not an option. OTOH, it is NOT a big deal to have upgraded a base model with the aero springs, shocks, struts, and swaybars, and these changes would make a SIGNIFICANT upgrade to the car's handling and ride(even if you didn't have the 17" wheels and bushings swapped). Another way many early victims of the softer model upgraded struts/shocks to Bilsteins, which also would make a large difference in the handling/ride. Because the chassis plate wouldn't have been swapped over, it would be difficult to notice the differences short of having a legible tag on the struts/shocks with the code, which is unlikely at best.

These are basic bolt in swaps, and it is unlikely it was "hacked" if these were the changes made, as none of this is complicated work. Contrary to popular belief, the "aero" suspension of '00 and '01 were NOT made the base suspension of the '02 linears. Besides the sway bars, I don't believe any of other parts swap over. The '02's had a redesigned chassis that was MUCH improved, and the base linear does have a more similar handling of the '00 and '01 aero than the earlier base models.

All this said, if you drive a few of the early models, and / or get into an aero, you will notice the difference almost immediately in how much the car leans and rocks between a base model and an aero. I would question the sales person on "how" he/she thinks this car has an aero suspension and you will probably find out how much smoke or substance is in the claim. My guess is that it is mostly smoke unless the salesperson has specific knowledge on the car from the prior owner.
