Viggen or stick with Aero?? Posted by MisplacedYankee [Email] ![]() ![]() |
Not to sound like Dr. Strauss...but it has been a year with the Aero (10K service next week) and I am torn as to what to do. I like the car, but miss the character and the hatch in my Viggen (I had a 2000 Blue Coupe). I am thinking about selling my aero and buying a used Viggen - most likely with higher mileage, maybe not - maybe even out of warranty - adding a few mods and keeping the car for a while (like 5 years or more). Of all the cars I have owned the Viggen stands out as my favorite. The aero is awesome, but just too refined for my tastes.
Pros:
- much lower payment
- hatchback
- hold better value over 5 years than the aero (I don't pile on many miles)
- With lesser payment and time to payoff I am free to buy another toy (3rd car) which is something I want to do, but tough to buy what I want given the aero's payment.
- I will go coupe.
Cons:
- Private party sale I am going to lose probably $3K on my aero given my payoff (I am on a 60 month loan, not a lease)
- The aero has been issue free (risk with changing)
- Long term Viggen parts maybe more costly, especially out of warranty
- I would likely miss the aero's handling, but thats about all...
Am I crazy? Talk me out of it. I also thought to lower my payment on the aero by refinancing the (now 48 month) loan out to a 60 month loan - drops it by over $100 given rates.
