I hate to say this, but I believe that Ford is doing much better at OWNING Volvo than GM is with Saab. So far, all we owners have been getting out of the deal has been the financing joys of 0%, etc.
I'd much rather NOT have an SUV on the market than have one based on the hideous Trailcrap. Why can't this happen? Hasn't GM learned ANYTHING from their competitors in all of the acquisition stuff that's been going on the last several years? I'm mean, look at Jaguar. Lord knows, no one would want to drive a Jag that's based on the Taurus chasis, but after a spin in the X sedan, you'd NEVER guess that it had FORD for a frame! I mean, even Jag has a 4 wheel drive!
It's just too strange to me - when I compare the two - FORD and GM - that Ford seems to really know and understand what it takes to OWN another car company. I mean, when you put a Taurus next to a Caprice, it's the chevy, hands down. What's wrong here? When will this demoralizing trend stop?!
This is my frustration...quickly erased by a 45 minute cruise in my faithful 9-5(even though I know WAY BACK in my mind that the chassis is a cousin of GM).
