The buzz on the internet is that Toyota redesigned the cylinder head for faster heatup and lower emissions by narrowing the oil passages and when the oil gets thick and sludgey it cooks in there and the engine fails. Change your oil regularly and it should be no problem.
BTW, Toyota sent my mom a paper saying that the engine warranty is extended out to 8 years and 100,000 miles and it is an 2002 so the problem probably will exist, to some extent, until a redesign.
