For example, take my wife (please! ba-da-boom). Seriously, my wife needs a voice-response nav system, just like GM has on Cadillacs (we have one of those, too). I'm convinced these are a real convenience, time-saver, and even safety feature. Consider all the "points of interest" stuff on the CD. Want to find a gas station: Which brand would you like, ma'am?
I have a Garmin unit in my 9-5 which saved us during a severe T-storm in St. Louis. Downed power lines were blocking roads and street lights were out, but the Colorpilot showed us the way to our hotel around all the detours. I was amazed it could lock onto the satellites through the storm.
CDs can be updated with new data w/out upgrading the electronics. If Saab had nav on the '03 Aero, I'd buy one right now (and you could keep all the incentives!)
