What exactly are you feeling? Some of these need the subframe torqued back up. In mine, after a lot of checking, I found the play in the lower steering column joint just above the spline at the floor, but it had similar sound/feel that you describe.

It was only really noticeable when I was starting up, especially if making a turn out of a driveway, and it seemed worse if there was a ramp or level change in the road surface.

If you lower the kick panel on the drivers side, and wiggle the steering wheel, the play will be obvious at the rubber bushing. A bit annoying if you are out of warranty, because the fix is to replace the whole column ($$$).

Now that I know what it is, it's less scary, because it doesn't look like it will come apart. It also seems better once I got the tighter suspension on, since there's much less suspension movement when starting up, stopping, and turning which seemed to be aggravating the situation.
