Distraction & Saab wisdom (moderate ramble-on)

Recent stories & studies have pointed out what we've suspected for some time: driving distractions are the biggest cause of sober car crashes. Number 1 on the "hit parade" appears to be messing with the radio & a/c.
I've had the opportunity to drive my wife's 2004 Volvo more than 1k mi & have developed a real appreciation for the thought made by Saab in crafting the ACC & radio controls. With minor changes the ACC has been a set & forget feature for me. I don't adjust it driving from home (106 F) thru Ventura (75) & to LA (82) & back thru the San Fernando Valley (106).
The radio controls are much better thought-out than my Mustang GT, GMC P/U & the Volvo. The other require looking away to change things- the Saab doesn't. The Volvo has steering wheel controls but they are flat (no dimples) & are lighted- a major distraction at night.
Probably another reason Saab is the safest car in Sweden. I continue to appreciate those subtlties of Saabs that never make it into the sales ads, but just make it feel "right"
