I have a 1999 V6 and a 2000 L4 lpt. Personally, I prefer the V6, it is smoother, has a nicer sound and better performance with only a slight gas milage penalty. My experience is that the V6 is also more reliable, it has never needed any repair (other than the 60k timing belt replacement, paid by Saab). OTOH the 4 has had a new turbo and new DI cassette, also paid for by Saab ;>)
Not all will agree with me, but I think the V6 wins, hands down.
