Manual transmission problem (lengthy)

I bought a '99 9-5 with manual transmission as a certified used car about one year ago -- with 42,000 miles on it. I have put 20,000 on the car so far, and am absolutely delighted with the car. I have an interesting issue, however, that has had the car in the shop for a week now. It will no longer downshift from 3rd to 2nd. Upshift is fine, though.
The dealer put me in a 2003 9-5 loaner with all the bells and whistles, and proceeded to replace 2nd gear and the synchro under the warranty. They called me when they had the transmission out, to ask how long I intend to keep the car, because the clutch has about 10,000 miles left on it (it was a leased car in metro Chicago, so that is not out of the ordinary). I am paying for a new clutch, and after assembling the car, they called to say that it still does not shift into 2nd from 3rd!
Saab is sending a "kit" and they will take tranny out and install kit this week. All the while, I continue to drive the 2003.
Anyone else had this type of problem? Will the kit cure it?
I do want to share my utmost pleasure with how the dealer (Zimbrick Saab in Madison, WI) and Saab corporate have handled the situation thus far!
