Defective windshield on '02 Aero?

Hi all,
Round about December '02, JohnW posted to this board about a possible known issue with pitted windshields but unfortunately never responded with a tech bulletin #:
http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/bb/9-5/index.html?bID=41880
I noted this as I'd noticed on my '02 Aero a similar condition from day 1 of possesion (I literally drove it off the showroom floor with 14 miles on the odo.). I didn't make anything of it at the time as the dealer had already done such a great job with everything else and I only considered it a minor nuisance. In addition, we were from out of town, doing the deal on the weekend and we had to get back home. But I noticed it. And since both legs of my commute are into the sun (eastward in the am, westward in the pm) it's that much more noticeable.
Sadly, last week I took a stone to the passenger side giving my car it's first battle scar. The result is a quarter-sized ding. And now I'm more interested in this issue.
Has anyone ever been able to confirm whether this was true (known defect)? The car is into it's second of a three year lease and I'm concerned about a "repair" and what that'll do at turn-in, and whether it'd be in both my and the dealer's best interest to replace the thing.
Thanks!
C.
