I am thinking about installing the Eibach Pro System (springs and dampers) on my 2000 2.3 lpt sedan (auto). I recently changed over to the '03 Aero anti-sway bars and have the stock 16" rims. From the postings I have read, I am convinced that the Eibach setup performs well but worry about lowering the ride height and possibly ending up with scraping problems or too harsh of a ride.
Specific questions:
1. Is anyone having problems with the car scraping on speed bumps and driveways (assuming stock trim and reasonable care and speeds)?
2. Any problems with tires rubbing in corners with the stock 16" or 17" rims?
3. Any bottoming out problems with the car full laden?
4. Any regrets that the ride is too firm or harsh?
5. Is anyone else using the Eibach setup with an automatic? (the one-size-fits-all of the Eibach kit worries me a little that it will be sub-optimal compared to the matched Aero springs)
Unfortunately, I have not driven a car with the Eibach set up or I would not be asking these questions. I live in Santa Cruz California, so snow clearance is not an issue, but rough roads are.
We have some great mountain roads and highways around here but surface conditions are not always optimal. Our other car is a '91 Jeep Cherokee, which I consider a little too rough for comfort. The 9-5 has become the family cruiser for longer trips and I don't want to screw it up. On the other hand, the stock suspension of my 9-5 is a little to "Buick" for my tastes.
Other options I have considered are to locate a set of take off Aero springs and pair them with either Bilstein or Koni dampers. Or, leave the stock springs and go with Bilstein or Koni's. Opinions welcome here as well. Contact me offline if you prefer at <my last name>@cruzio.com
Thanks in advance,
Will
