YOu said "So now I am thinking about my 9-5 again. Maybe mine doesn't work and I need to take it in for service. Maybe Saab's dual controls just don't work well (compared to Chrysler - ugh)." . You have it right there. It's possible that a contemporary minivan like a Chrysler will do a better job with functions like how the dual zone climate control operates than a company like Saab, for the simple reason that Chrysler knows who is buttering it's bread when it comes to features like this. They sell four times as many minivans per year as Saab's total production of everything! They can afford to spend the money to chase down things like this. Quite frankly, the folks in Sweeden think that having air conditioning in a car is an extravagance, let alone climate control, let alone dual zone climate control. It really is a marketing gimick in my opinion,as the air temperature equilibrates raipdly in a small interior volume like that of a car. It satisfies spouses who think that they have won the temperature battle though. Everyone gets to read and believe their own number on the dashboard.
