I was really impressed with the Aero Academy. And the best part was seeing the folks who had very little (zero) experience with snow turn into skid pad champs!
I had a blast on the skid pad. The instructor is in the passenger seat on a flooded circulrar skid pad. You are driving near the tractive limit in a circle, then the instructor hits the p-brake. I was wondering after missing 5 Canadian winters if I would not know what to do. Nope, the intincts were there and they really could not throw me off! I loved it.
It was great fun. I did not have any expectations of becoming a race driver. I left at 5:30PM and drove home about 12 hours. That was silly!
When you do the mini x-cross, you need to stay in 2nd gear or the zutoboxes will do a lot of stupid things and your times will tank. There is a x-cross course the 2nd AM that includes the wet skid pad. That was fun. Then a x-cross that afternoon and they clock your improvement against the 1st.
Do not over eat or drink the first night, get a good sleep. The second day will have its challenges.
The instructors are a great, all of them. They like to drive and they really seem to enjoy teaching.
You will meet a cross section of Saab drivers. And perhaps very few or none will be Saabnet folks.
