$21K is someone that needs to dump it. Depreciation like that is crazy. At that point most would just sell the car themselves and be better off. A lot of times KBB is off on cars where there is not a lot of data -- say like a Viggen or I would guess there haven't been many 02 aeros traded-in at this point. I think $21K is low, but when I was looking to trade my 02 5spd aero back July the dealer would give me $23-$25K for it. Carmax offered an amazing $28.5K. Keep in mind that my car was mint with 9K on the odometer. Since 04's are rolling out expect at least $3K off those #s now. All thats great, but good luck finding one for sale in the $21K to $24K range -- it will be just to hard to find or very high mileage. There just won't be a ton of 02s on the wholesale market until 2005 or so when most will come off lease -- thats why you see good prices now on the 2000 and even some 2001 aeros on Ebay.

I also doubt that right now you could get an 03 for $32K or so -- its still going to be near $34K. They won't drop down to $32K until early next year...

So the short answer is yes -- you are too optimistic.
